Universal took home two trophies, but other distributors had to settle for one each.

With 12 nominations, 20th Century Fox was the frontrunner heading into the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards, and once all the trophies were handed out, it went home the dominant distributor, claiming six Globes divvied up among The Revenant, The Martian and Joy.

Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos and his executive team received multiple shout-outs as the various filmmakers among the trio of winning movies took their turns behind the podium, and Regency’s Arnon Milchan also got a few mentions for his support of The Revenant.

Universal, which was juggling eight noms, ultimately claimed two wins for Steve Jobs — a screenplay prize for Aaron Sorkin and supporting actress honors for Kate Winslet.

The Weinstein Co. is often a big winner come awards time, and when emcee Ricky Gervais cracked a joke about movie companies buying Golden Globes, the camera cut to a laughing Harvey Weinstein. But this year, despite having eight noms to its credit, TWC captured just one trophy — best score for The Hateful Eight, which director Quentin Tarantino accepted on behalf of composer Ennio Morricone.

The other awards were spread out among various distributors: A24, the newest distributor among them, was repped by Room and Brie Larson’s best dramatic actress nod; Warners had the best supporting actor winner in Creed’s Sylvester Stallone; Disney captured best animated feature for Pixar’s Inside Out; Sony Pictures Classics was the foreign-language film victor with Son of Saul; and Sony itself was repped by the best song winner, “The Writings on the Wall,” from Spectre.

MGM, although it didn’t play the role of distributor, could lay claim to a hand in two of the films, Creed and Spectre.

Paramount, however, which fielded The Big Short, with four nominations, and Anomalisa in the animated category, was shut out on the night.
