Taraji P. Henson won the Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a TV series, drama.

She took home the award for her performance in Empire and was nominated along with Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

Henson stars as Cookie Lyon in the Fox ratings hit Empire, which returns March 30. The drama centers on the Lyon family and the struggle for their business, Empire Entertainment, as the battle for leadership continues among Terrence Howard’s Lucious Lyon and his three very different sons.

"Cookies for everyone tonight!" she announced on stage. "My treat!"

This is her first Golden Globes nomination and first win. "Who knew that playing an ex-convict would take me all around the globe?" she said about her Empire character.

Ruth Wilson won the award last year for her performance in Showtime’s The Affair.

The 73rd annual Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, were held in Beverly Hills on Jan. 10.
