The campaign by Americans for Marriage Equality has garnered support from various athletes and Hollywood stars, but Blankfein is the first major CEO to film a 30-second spot for the organization.

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein is lending his support to gay rights.

On Monday, Blankfein became the first major CEO to appear in an ad for the Americans for Marriage Equality campaign, voicing his support of same-sex marriage. Blankfein is the 12th person to appear in the campaign, joining sports stars Sean Avery and Scott Fujita, actors John Leguizamo, Josh Charles, Mo’Nique and Aisha Tyler, Senator Al Franken and New York Giants owner Steve Tish.

“America's corporations learned long ago that equality is just good business and is the right thing to do,” says Blankfein in the video. His New York based investment bank upholds a non-discrimination policy, which includes sexual orientation.

“Corporate America has long since been a leading agent of change and progress for LGBT equality,” said Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, in a statement. “While the federal government continues to discriminate against committed and loving same-sex couples, America’s companies and executives like Goldman Sachs and Lloyd Blankfein have made equality for LGBT people a top priority.”
