Directed by John Moore (Max Payne), A Good Day to Die Hard lands permanently-besieged cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) in Moscow, where he is reunited with his estranged son Jack. According to a press release issued by Fox, “Jack may even be more of a hardass than his father. Despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive – and the world safe for democracy.”
Courtney previously appeared as Varro in the Starz television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, before his character was killed off to great controversy in 2010. In addition to A Great Day to Die Hard, Courtney has lined up a role opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot, writer-director Christopher McQuarrie’s (Way of the Gun) adaptation of Lee Child’s mystery novel of the same name.
The previous film in the series, Live Free or Die Hard, was released in 2007, and paired Willis with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played his estranged daughter. Winstead told Movies.com last year that she was not asked to return to the franchise.
A Good Day to Die Hard begins production in April 2012 for a February 14, 2013 release.
