NEW YORK -- John Cusack is attached to star in Jan de Bont's action thriller "Stopping Power" and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is attached as the romantic lead in producer Darren Star's directorial debut "The Frog King," both projects coming from the new Intermedia-backed sales and distribution outfit IM Global.

IM Global president Stuart Ford and Intermedia chairman Martin Schuermann also said that Skip Woods ("Swordfish") will write "Power" with Eric Red ("The Hitcher"), one of six new projects the newly named company will be selling at this month's Festival de Cannes market.

In the Intermedia Films-produced "Power," Cusack is set to star as a test pilot who sets off on a series of high-speed chases to save his kidnapped daughter from an escaped thief. In "King," produced by Intermedia and GreeneStreet Films and written by Bret Easton Ellis, Gordon-Levitt plays a ne'er-do-well assistant editor whose penchant for messing up threatens a relationship with his dream girlfriend.

IM Global's new name (announced two weeks after its founding) alludes to Intermedia's involvement, but the outfit will be run as a separate company by Ford and several other former First Look International executives. The company will sell a host of big-budget projects from Intermedia Films and a selection of international titles from Ford's former company.

Other projects IM Global is selling include two Constellation Films projects, Agnieszka Vosloo's thriller "After.Life," with Kate Bosworth attached, and Jodie Markell's "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," written by Tennessee Williams and featuring a veteran ensemble cast, as well as Simon Crane's hired assassin thriller "The Killer's Game," written by Simon Kinberg and produced by Intermedia and Mad Chance Prods.

Ford also will be showing never-before-seen footage from an untitled docu from director Larry Charles ("Borat") and narrator Bill Maher, produced by Palmer West and Jonah Smith. "Buyers have been hungry for this footage for months, and the one-off screening we're hosting promises to be quite an event," Ford said.

Schuermann, Ford and his staff will attend Cannes with Scott Kroopf, vice chairman and president of Intermedia's motion picture group. IM Global's offices are based in Los Angeles and London.
