'Gossip Girl’s' Sebastian Stan Joins USA’s 'Political Animals'
Joining a cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, James Wolk and Carla Gugino, the actor will play the son of Weaver's former first lady character.
Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan has joined USA's Political Animals.
The actor closed a deal to co-star in the net's six-hour political drama series from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark.
Set for a summer launch, Animals centers on Elaine Barrish (Sigourney Weaver), a divorced former first lady and current secretary of state, who is struggling to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with the crises of the State Department. She finds an unlikely ally in a famous D.C. journalist who has spent her career tearing Elaine down.
Stan will play Thomas "T.J." Hammond, the son of Barrish and her philandering ex-husband, former President Bud Hammond. A lost soul who struggles with addiction, T.J. is the polar opposite of his brother, Douglas (Lone Star's James Wolk), who serves as their mother's chief of staff.

In addition to Weaver and Wolk, Stan joins Fairly Legal's Brittany Ishibashi (as Douglas' fiancée) and Entourage's Carla Gugino (as the hungry D.C.-based Pulitzer-winning journalist).
Berlanti will write and direct the pilot, in addition to executive producing with Mark. Melissa Kellner Berman will co-executive produce. Animals hails from Berlanti Productions and Laurence Mark Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.
Stan, whose other credits include Captain America as well as NBC's Kings and ABC's Once Upon a Time, is repped by WME and Brookside Artist Management.
