Ex-Grateful Dead Drummer Mickey Hart Wanted by Police for Assault
UPDATED: The musician is accused of attacking someone at a recent concert in Kentucky.
Former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hall has found himself in trouble with the law.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that an arrest warrant has been issued for the musician after he was accused of assaulting a person at a Mickey Hart Band show on Sept. 8. The incident occurred at Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, Ky., and was first reported by TMZ.
Details surrounding the attack are not yet clear, but the alleged victim reportedly filed a police report and initiated assault charges shortly after the event. According to local police, it is standard practice to issue a warrant when an alleged victim decides to press charges.
Reps for Hart, real name Michael Hartman, did not immediately return THR’s request for comment.
Hart is best known for playing with the Dead from 1967-95.
UPDATE: Hall has responded with the following statement.
I am totally baffled by a bizarre claim of assault by me coming out of Kentucky – the home of Bluegrass and a state I love dearly. Any accusation or claim of assault against me is completely false and without any basis whatsoever. I played drums on “Shakedown Street,” but I never expected to be “The Victim or the Crime.” -Mickey Hart
