Greek Drama ‘Wasted Youth’ to Open 40th Rotterdam Fest
IFFR, considered the premiere festival for international indie art house films, runs Jan. 26-Feb. 6.
BERLIN -- The Greek film Wasted Youth from co-directors Argyris Papadimitropoulos and Jan Vogel will open the 40th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on Wednesday Jan. 26.
Set during a blazing summer day in Athens, the film moves between a group of teenage skaters trolling the city and a middle aged man struggling to support his family. All the while Athens teeters on the edge of collapse.
Wasted Youth was shot entirely on location on the streets of the Greek capital. It is Papadimitropoulos’ second feature and the feature debut for Vogel.
