Greenbaum joins Fox Searchlight

Former Miramax veteran named senior vp, production

David Greenbaum, who spent ten years at Miramax, is joining Fox Searchlight as senior vp, production.

He'll be based in Los Angeles and report to president of production Claudia Lewis, who announced his hiring Monday. He steps into the post that had been held by Jeremy Steckler, who is moving to Imagine Entertainment.

Greenbaum most recently held the post of vp, production and development for Miramax, which Disney effectively shuttered in January. There, he oversaw such films as John Madden's upcoming "The Debt," starring Helen Mirren. Having begun his career as an executive assistant to Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein, he also served a stint in London as Miramax's director of production and development.

"It was important to me to find someone who shares our strong commitment to independent filmmaking and unique cinematic expression," Lewis said. "David's intelligence and his passion for original and imaginative filmmakers makes for a perfect fit."
