GreeneStreet Films and independent financier Sriram Das have signed a mid-seven-figure deal to produce three feature films through a development fund.

Das and GreeneStreet are looking at one fiction and one nonfiction book to adapt for the big screen. Das, who gained his fortune from investment banking at Merrill Lynch and family funds, hopes to get three mainstream projects off the ground in the next 12-18 months.

Under the arrangement, Das will provide all or the majority of each project's development funding and split production financing with GreeneStreet, which will take the lead in creative development. Das will be a creative consultant on each project.

"Three films is just a minimum," Das said. "Our relationship may continue depending on the success of the projects."

GSF West Coast director of development Melanie Shanley introduced Das to the company. "This early stage development fund is a great complement to our core production financing, which enables us to continue to build a more diverse slate," GSF partner and president John Penotti said.

Das has served as an executive producer and helped finance several projects at Kevin Frakes? Palm-Star, including an adaptation of Buzz Bissinger's  "Three Nights in August" as well as several other literary properties.
