KaDee Strickland has come aboard the upcoming "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff, "Private Practice," while Chyler Leigh is joining the "Grey's" cast as a regular.

Meanwhile, Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort has landed the coveted role of Kara/Supergirl on the CW's "Smallville," and Katie Cassidy has been added to "Smallville's" companion series, "Supernatural."

On "Practice," set at a posh Los Angeles private medical practice, Strickland will play Charlotte, a doctor and hospital administrator.

On "Grey's," Leigh plays Lexie Grey, the half sister of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) who comes to Seattle Grace as a new intern. Leigh originated the character in a brief guest appearance at the end of "Grey's" Season 3 finale.

Both Strickland and Leigh starred on David E. Kelley series: Leigh was a lead on "Girls Club" and also recurred on Kelley's "The Practice," while Strickland toplined Kelley's "The Wedding Bells."

Strickland next appears in the feature "American Gangster." She is repped by WMA and attorney Neil Meyer.

Leigh most recently co-starred on Fox's "Reunion." She was repped in the deal by Sharon Lane at Lane Management Group and attorney Brad Small.

Vandervoort will have a major presence on "Smallville" this coming season. The Kara/Supergirl character will be introduced in the show's seventh-season premiere.

Vandervoort joins another new cast addition, Michael Cassidy, who will recur as the editor of Daily Planet.

Katie Cassidy's character Ruby will make her first appearance on "Supernatural's" third-season premiere. She is a fellow demon hunter whom Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) initially meet when they begin searching for the masses of demons who escaped from hell in the second-season finale.

Vandervoort is repped by Noble Caplan Abrams in Toronto and Anthem Entertainment.

Michael Cassidy, whose series credits include "The O.C." and "Hidden Palms," is repped by Gersh, Larry Taube of Principal Entertainment and Vic Ramos Management.

Katie Cassidy, the daughter of 1970s pop star David Cassidy, has appeared in such features as "Click," "When a Stranger Calls" and "Black Christmas." She also has signed on to play Lucy Ewing in the upcoming big-screen remake of the hit TV series "Dallas." On TV, she had a recurring role on "7th Heaven."
