Grupo Televisa Quarterly Profit Rises 9%
Soccer World Cup among the growth drivers.
NEW YORK -- Mexican media giant Grupo Televisa reported improved third-quarter financials late Thursday, driven in part by advertising sales from the final games of the soccer World Cup in July.
The company reported a 9% profit increase to 2.2 billion pesos ($175 million). Its revenue grew 12% to 14.8 billion pesos.
Televisa's TV broadcasting revenue rose 7.1% on higher advertising sales for programs produced around the eight World Cup matches aired in July, as well as novelas and reality shows.
The company also posted a 17.7% gain in its pay TV networks unit.
