GSN shows 'Money' in off-net buy
EmptyGSN has acquired off-net rights to the William Shatner-hosted game show "Show Me the Money" from Disney-ABC Domestic Television (formerly Buena Vista Television).
GSN has acquired seven episodes of "Money," including two that never aired during the show's short-lived run in ABC primetime late last year. "Money" is set to air on GSN at 8 p.m. Tuesdays starting June 12; the two never-before-seen episodes will air July 17 and 24.
" 'Show Me the Money' is the perfect marriage of a game show and a variety show," GSN senior vp programming Jamie Roberts said. "We think our viewers will enjoy this winning combination."
"Money," produced by Endemol USA and executive produced by Mike Nichols, features Shatner as master of ceremonies with "million-dollar dancers" as his onstage helpers and spontaneous dance partners.
In the show, contestants answer a series of trivia questions; after each answer, they choose from among the 13 dancers holding a scroll with a dollar amount printed on it. If the contestant's answer to the question is correct, the dollar amount is added to their pot; for an incorrect answer, the dollar amount is subtracted from their winnings.
GSN and Disney-ABC Domestic TV declined comment on the financial terms of the deal.
