GSN Acquires Off-Network Rights to NBC's 'Minute to Win It'
The game show, which offered a $1 million prize, begins airing July 24.
GSN has acquired the off-network rights to 68 episodes of the game show Minute to Win It.
“Fun, entertaining and competitive – this game show brings all the elements that resonate with our core audience,” says Amy Introcaso-Davis, GSN’s Executive Vice President of Programming.
They will air four episodes in a four-hour block Tuesday nights from 7 pm to 11 pm (ET) starting Tuesday, July 24. The show was produced by Universal Media Studios which like NBC is owned by Comcast.
Hosted by Guy Fieri (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives), the hour-long game show ran for two seasons on NBC. It was canceled in May 2012 after two seasons.
Minute to Win It, which premiered in March 2010, features a series of ten simple but nerve-wracking games that challenge two contestants who usually work together as a team. The games, which must be completed in one minute, escalate in complexity as the show progresses.
If the contestants are able to complete all ten tasks, then they win $1 million.
GSN, which is jointly owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment and DirecTV, has other game shows it acquired already, including Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Family Feud.
