Hallmark to continue on EchoStar's Dish
EmptyCrown Media Holdings Inc. said Thursday it signed a multiyear deal to continue broadcasting its Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel cable networks on EchoStar Communications Corp.'s Dish network.
Crown said Hallmark will be moved to a new cable package on the network, making it available to 4 million additional subscribers. The network's total exposure on all systems is now 80 million subscribers, the company said.
EchoStar had about 13.1 million subscribers at the end of December.
Crown did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Cable and satellite companies typically pay between 25 cents and $1 per subscriber to carry cable networks.
Crown shares added 14 cents, or 3%, to $4.50 in morning trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The shares have ranged from $2.94 to $8.06 in the past year.
