IFC Films has acquired North American rights to Hank Bedford’s Dixieland.
Chris Zylka, Riley Keough, RJ Mitte, Spencer Lofranco, Brad Carter, Steve Earle and Faith Hill star in the film, which was written by Bedford.
Set during the hot, lazy days of a Mississippi summer, Dixieland revolves around two star-crossed lovers — a recently released ex-con and an aspiring stripper — who become trapped in a downward spiral of crime and obsessive love as they try to ditch their small town lives.
"Dixieland is a gritty portrait of the modern American south with incredibly brave and honest performances from Riley Keough, Faith Hill, and Chris Zylka," said Bedford. "I’m so excited that a bold company like IFC Films is distributing [it]."
The film premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, and IFC Films will release the film in theaters and on demand on Dec. 11.
Jen Gatien (Holy Rollers) produced, and Michael Clofine, Bedford, Barbara Bedford and Jesse Jantzen executive produced.
The deal was negotiated by CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
