The singer and social activist is the latest celebrity to throw his support behind the Democratic presidential candidate.

Bernie Sanders has earned himself another celebrity endorser in Harry Belafonte.

The singer, actor and producer announced his support for the Democratic presidential candidate in a video released on Sanders' YouTube channel on Thursday.

Saying Sanders is "giving an opportunity for young people and for all people to have a choice, to be able to turn this ship of state called America around, place it on a new course," Belafonte then adds, "That's why I've endorsed Bernie Sanders."

He continues, "I think he represents opportunity. I think he represents a moral imperative. I think he represents a certain kind of truth that's not often evidenced in the course of politics."

The civil rights activist, who marched with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s, joins the long list of celebrities who have thrown their support behind the Vermont senator. Included in the 100-plus names of "Artists and Cultural Leaders for Bernie Sanders" listed on the candidate's website are Sarah Silverman, Mark Ruffalo, Susan Sarandon and Will Ferrell.

In his video, Belafonte speaks directly to undecided voters and those who, as of now, are not voting for Sanders, urging them "to maybe consider and reconsider what it is that Bernie Sanders offers."

"He offers us a chance to declare unequivocally that there is an America," he says. "There is a group of citizens, with a deep caring for where our nation goes and what it does in the process of going."

Belafonte announced his support after meeting with Sanders in New York on Wednesday, reported NBC News. The endorsement arrives two days after Sanders defeated Hilary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary. Sanders and Clinton will face off on Thursday in Milwaukee for the Democratic presidential debate (airing on PBS NewsHour at 9 p.m. ET). South Carolina holds their primary election next on Feb. 27.
