'Harry Potter' Remains Top-Selling DVD, Blu-ray for Third Straight Week
Super 8," "Conan the Barbarian" and "Spy Kids 4" are released in stores.
Warner Home Video’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 remained the top-selling DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the third consecutive week, buoyed by a sweeping retail presence and attractive pricing – not to mention the Black Friday deluge of holiday shoppers who shied away from new releases in favor of recent titles better suited as gifts.
At Target Stores, for example, the Blu-ray Disc continues to sell for $14.99 three weeks after its release, and is prominently situated on endcaps right by the checkout lanes.

On the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ending Nov. 27, Walt Disney Studios’ Cars 2 cruised back up to No. 2 its fourth week in stores, after spending week three at No. 4. Universal Studios’ Bridesmaids staged an even more dramatic comeback, soaring back up to No. 3 from No. 11 the previous week. The romantic comedy was Amazon’s featured title for Black Friday.

Paramount’s Super 8 debuted at No. 4 on First Alert and No. 2 on Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart. The summer tentpole, a sci-fi mystery written and helmed by J.J. Abrams that grossed $127 million in U.S. theaters, generated 59 percent of its first-week sales from Blu-ray Disc.
Super 8 debuted at No. 1 on Home Media Magazine ’s video rental chart, with Lionsgate’s Conan the Barbarian bowing at No. 2 and Anchor Bay’s Spy Kids: All the Time in the World debuting at No. 4, right after holdover Horrible Bosses, from Warner.
Walt Disney Studios’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, No. 1 the prior week, slipped to No. 6, right behind Sony Pictures’ Bad Teacher, which remains in high demand after six weeks in stores.
