Harvey Weinstein Wooing Katy Perry for Paul Potts Biopic (Report)
The studio co-chairman also singles out Adele as a contender to portray the British opera star's wife in the film project.
Harvey Weinstein says he talked to Katy Perry about playing Paul Potts' wife in a biopic of the British cell phone salesman-turned-opera sensation.
Potts' life was turned upside down when he appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2007, exposing his powerful voice to millions of people around the world in a rags-to-riches fairytale, courtesy of reality television.
"I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon," Weinstein told the New York Post. "We’d really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts’ wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested."
According to the Post, The Weinstein Co. co-chairman spoke with Perry at his Oscars pre-party at L.A.'s Soho House, and she responded: "I love a challenge."

A rep for the singer did not immediately respond to THR's request for comment.
Perry, freshly divorced from Russell Brand, has hosted Saturday Night Live, and made a cameo on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother. The multi-platinum singer performed her new song "Part of Me" at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, effectively channeling her post-breakup anger toward Brand with a wild, crimped hairstyle and exaggerated stage rage.
Adele, meanwhile, swept the Grammys with six trophies including record, song and album of the year. Given her show-stopping talent, and British accent, she could certainly pull off the part as Potts' other half.
