HBO shows are now available on Xbox One.

The HBO Go app launched on the gaming console Thursday with episodes of current series, such as True Detective, Game of Thrones and Girls. The app, which has been available on Xbox 360, also offers library content, including Entourage and The Sopranos. Designed specifically for Xbox One, HBO Go features Kinect voice controls and gesture control.

"Xbox is one of our subscribers' favorite ways to access HBO GO and its incredible breadth of award-winning programming," said Jeff Dallesandro, vp digital domestic network distribution at HBO. "Now, Xbox One users can get in on the action and Kinect with the very best HBO series and films on this innovative, state-of-the-art device."

Like all versions of HBO Go, the app requires authentication from a cable subscriber. The cable channel has announced that it will launch a stand-alone online service that would not require a cable subscription in 2015.
