'Heart' beats strengthen with sales

BERLIN -- The musical documentary "Young @ Heart" has been sold to Jean Labadie's Le Pacte in France, Rialto in Australia/New Zealand, Senator Films in Germany and Pix/Avex Group in Japan.
The documentary, directed by Stephen Walker, stars a New England senior citizens chorus group that performs covers of songs by everyone from the Clash to Coldplay while struggling with the complications of aging.
The documentary initially gained recognition at the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best International Feature.
After the strong response to the film, WMi sold the film to Fox Searchlight. It subsequently created a new theatrical version of the film to sell abroad.
