Action Champ Hermann Joha to Receive German TV Honor
Joha’s action series “Alarm for Cobra 11” has been a ratings hit for more than 16 years.
BERLIN – Veteran action producer Hermann Joha will receive the German equivalent of the Emmy for his life’s work at this year’s German Television Awards.
He will be honored in the extraordinary contribution to fiction category at the German Television Awards gala in Cologne on Oct. 4.
Joha is best known for the cops-and-Autobahn action series Alarm for Cobra 11, which has been a ratings hit for commercial network RTL for more than 16 years and has sold to more than 140 territories worldwide. Joha’s production company, action concept, has won the renowned Taurus World Stunt award a record seven times.
"I’m completely blown away,” Joha said. “At action concept we’re ready for anything but we didn’t expect this. For me, it’s always been enough that millions of viewers around the world love our shows. So my delight is that much greater. I [accept this honor] on behalf of my entire team, all our departments, the actors and last but not least our unbeatable stunt team that for years have done their job brilliantly.”
In addition to its bread-and-butter television work – which also includes the new action series MEK 8, action concept has done second unit and stunt service work on several feature films, including Ron Howard’s upcoming racing film Rush and Bollywood feature Don 2 – The King Is Back starring Shah Rukh Khan.
