'He Texted' Blog Scores Book Deal (Exclusive)
The advice-and-sympathy blog featuring user submitted texts founded by two New York-based women launched in October.
The "He Texted" blog founders Lisa Winning and Carrie Henderson-Mcdermott have sold a book based on their blog to Gallery Books, an imprint at Simon & Schuster.
Publication is expected in January 2014.
Hetexted.com a website that allows women to post ambiguous text messages from guys and get feedback from users.
The site's tagline is, "Got a text from that guy and don't know what it means…??"
In addition to commenting on the texts, readers can vote "he's into you," "he's not into you," or the "verdict is still out" on particular entries.
Officially launched in October 2012, the site attracted widespread press attention.
It has been compared to the website "Texts From Last Night," which also spawned a book deal in 2009.
"He Texted" was founded by friends Winning, 29, and Henderson-McDermott, 25. Winning had previously worked at e-commerce site Quintessentially. Henderson-McDermott was an editor at Glamour. The pair live in New York City.
The deal caps a year in which publishers continued to turn to blogs as the source material for books.
Editors Jennifer Bergstrom and Jeremie Ruby-Strauss at Gallery Books bought the book in a pre-empt. Winning and Henderson-McDermott are represented by WME.Terms of the deals were not released.
