BIRTHS: Sarah Meyer Michaelson, director of development at Silver Pictures/Dark Castle, and her husband Aaron Michaelson, president of Concept Arts Studios, welcomed son Moses Meyer Michaelson on Nov. 1 at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. The baby's maternal grandfather is Universal Studios president Ron Meyer.

Michael Whetstone, a production designer on Wilfred, New Girl and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and his wife, Virginia Fout, welcomed daughter Logan Wiley Whetstone on Oct. 17 via surrogate at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Calif.

DEATH

Hal Kanter, an Emmy-winning writer who worked on the Oscars for more than 30 years, died Nov. 6 in Enicno. He was 92. Kanter also created the landmark 1960s series Julia, starring Diahann Carroll.
