LONDON -- The U.K. Film Council has appointed Thomas Hoegh to its board with immediate effect.

Hoegh, founder and CEO of digital financier and technology company Arts Alliance, joins the Council board for a four-year term, the government-backed organization said Tuesday.

Hoegh, who brings investment and entrepreneurial experience to the table, sits on the boards of film-related companies including LoveFilm, the Metropolitan Film School and Slingshot.

U.K. Film Council chairman Stewart Till said Hoegh will bring "incredible intelligence about, and insights into, the film industry's future."
