Hollywood Foreign Press Association Elects Aida Takla O'Reilly as President
This marks the second term for O'Reilly, who replaces Philip Berk as leader of the group that oversees the Golden Globes.
Dr. Aida Takla O'Reilly was elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the 2011-12 year at the organization’s annual election meeting.
O'Reilly, a member of the HFPA since 1956, previously served as the group's president from 1994-96. She replaces Philip Berk as head of the organization, which oversees the Golden Globes.
"I am thrilled and honored to serve as the HFPA's president once again," O'Reilly said. "I believe in the vitality of the membership and what we have to contribute to the future of the industry both here and abroad."
Egypt-born O'Reilly received her doctorate in comparative literature from the Sorbonne-Paris University in 1969.
Also at Tuesday's election meeting, Jorge Camara, Serge Rakhlin and Ali Sar were elected vp, executive secretary and treasurer, respectively.
The new board of directors is comprised of Berk (chairman), Yoram Kahana, Yukiko Nakajima, Ruben Nepales, Meher Tatna and Theo Kingma (alternate).
The HFPA Installation Luncheon to honor the officers and directors will be held later this summer. At the annual event, the group makes annual donations to nonprofit organizations and film schools.
