Hollywood Hits the Red Carpet

Eric Charbonneau/Le Studio

Guests at the L.A. premiere of The Descendants were treated to a bit of island fare -- a nod to the setting of the new Fox Searchlight comedy-drama, which was filmed at several locations in Oahu. Fox Filmed Entertainment's Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos joined Fox Searchlight's Claudia Lewis and Nancy Utley at the AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theater along with the film's George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller and Nick Krause for a party following the screening. They enjoyed Polynesian cuisine in the lobby, which was decorated with flowers donated by the Hawaiian Visitors and Convention Bureau. Clooney -- who plays a land baron trying to reconnect with his daughters (Woodley and Miller) after his wife falls into a coma -- took his caring father-figure role offscreen: When introducing the film, he insisted that the entire audience sing "Happy Birthday" to a slightly embarrassed Woodley, who turned 20 that day. -- Lindsay Flans
