Hollywood Hits the Red Carpet

The British capital was a fitting spot for the premiere of Fox's sci-fi epic Prometheus — England-born director Ridley Scott has an office in the city and is a bit of a hometown hero (in 2003, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth). The Prometheus cast — including Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron — was on hand for the debut at the Empire theater in Leicester Square, followed by an intimate dinner at sushi eatery Aqua. How does Scott feel his film stacks up against other sci-fi movies? "It's not necessarily the best, but it's better than a lot," he said. Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman and CEO Tom Rothman told THR that it creates a new mythology. The film grossed $10.1 million in its June 1 opening weekend in the U.K., a career best for Scott. — Georg Szalai
