"Brad and Angelina. How am I supposed to go to work today?" asked Chrissy Teigen.

The news that Angelina Jolie is divorcing Brad Pitt came as a surprise to many people, who quickly turned to social media on Tuesday to share their thoughts and jokes, with the couple's #Brangelina nickname trending. Even the stars got into the act.

"Brad and Angelina. How am I supposed to go to work today?" asked Chrissy Teigen.

"I blame Donald Trump. #Brangelina," tweeted Piers Morgan. Josh Gad teased, "Before we get too cavalier about it, let's remember that #brangelina was possibly the only thing still holding the USA together."

Video footage captured Pitt pal George Clooney hearing about the news for the first time. "I didn't know that. Wow. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family," he told CNN. "I feel very sorry to hear that. This is the first I've heard of it."

Social media was also flooded with memes featuring Jennifer Aniston, who was married to Pitt for five years when he met and fell in love with Jolie while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The Friends star married Justin Theroux in 2015.

Susan Sarandon, meanwhile, had more important things on her mind and was upset about the attention the divorce received, saying she'd rather see the media cover Terrence Crutcher's death. (Crutcher, an unarmed black man, was shot and killed by a white policewoman in Tulsa, Okla.) Her message to CNN was "Priorities" with Crutcher's name as a hashtag and a screengrab of CNN's "It's over" headline on a picture of Pitt and Jolie.
