Hollywood Reporter Receives First-Ever Emmy Nomination for Award Roundtable
THR and PBS SoCal have been recognized for the televised "Wolf of Wall Street" discussion featuring Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Terence Winter.
The Hollywood Reporter has been nominated for its first Emmy.
The entertainment industry's flagship media brand, along with PBC SoCal, PBS for Greater Los Angeles, have been recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award for The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: The Wolf of Wall Street. The program was cited in the arts and culture/history category.
The program — an intimate roundtable conversation about the making of Martin Scorsese's Oscar-nominated film — featured Scorsese, writer Terence Winter and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. The Hollywood Reporter’s Stephen Galloway moderated the discussion, which gave viewers an inside look at the inspiration behind the film, the challenges and the relevance of the film today in advance of its theatrical release. It first aired on PBS SoCal on Dec. 29.
The program was produced by The Hollywood Reporter in partnership with PBS SoCaL. The nominated team includes THR's Galloway and Janice Min, executive producers; THR's Jennifer Laski, producer; THR's Stephanie Fischette, associate producer; and from PBS SoCal, Brenda Brkusic, executive producer. It was one of six awards season roundtables that aired in full on PBS SoCal during the past Oscar season of 2013-14.
The winners will be announced at the 66th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards presentation July 26 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in the NoHo Arts District.
The Los Angeles Area nominees were selected by national active members and Los Angeles Area Peer Group active members within the Television Academy.
The announcement follows last month’s news that THR topped the nominations for the 55th Southern California Journalism Awards with a total of 34 noms, including best website, journalist of the year (Gary Baum and Matthew Belloni) and entertainment journalist of the year (Lacey Rose). Those awards will be handed out Sunday at The Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It also follows The Hollywood Reporter’s first-ever nomination for a National Magazine Award for General Excellence earlier this year.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Season Roundtable Series currently airs on A&E.
