Former Universal Studios Home Entertainment executive vp marketing Ken Graffeo has resurfaced as COO of PointRoll, a Gannett subsidiary that provides "rich media" solutions and counts 65% of the Fortune 100 as clients. Graffeo, a former video retailer, will be responsible for the company's overall growth strategy, strategic marketing and operational effectiveness.
MGM, FOX HITCHED
MGM Home Entertainment, through distributor Fox, has bundled eight classic Alfred Hitchcock movies for DVD release Oct. 14. The "Alfred Hitchcock Premiere Collection," an eight-disc set, is highlighted by Hitchcock's best picture Oscar winner "Rebecca," starring Laurence Olivier. Also included in the collection are "Spellbound," "Notorious," "The Paradine Case," "Sabotage," "Young and Innocent," "Lifeboat" and "The Lodger."
Indie film distributor Film Movement on Aug. 5 will release on DVD the cult classic "Choking Man," from Steve Barron. All Film Movement releases come with a short film bonus; accompanying "Choking Man" is "The Boy With No Name," from the U.K.
BYE, NEW LINE
New Line Home Entertainment has shut down and its remaining releases for the year will be brought to DVD by Warner Home Video. Its last release was "Be Kind, Rewind." Ironically, the film is about a video store clerk who accidentally erases the store's stockpile of ancient VHS cassettes.
