'WALL-E' COMES HOME

The latest Disney/Pixar hit, "WALL-E," will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in time for Christmas. The CG-animated film, which grossed $214.1 million domestically, will hit stores Nov. 18 in both single- and triple-disc versions. The latter comes with a suite of special features about the film's robot heroes, including Web vignettes and an interactive storybook, and a documentary on Pixar. The releases also include a digital copy of the film, playable on mobile devices.

NICHE DVDS DOWN

New DVD releases for the year are down 18.4% through July, according to the DVD Release Report. The biggest drag comes in special interest, theatrical catalog, music, anime and foreign-language categories. Through July 31, 6,298 DVD releases had come to market, compared with 7,715 in the same period last year.

A WISH COME TRUE

Sony is giving the 1960s sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie" the complete-series treatment, bundling all five seasons — 139 episodes in all — into a 20-disc box set shaped like a bottle. The set also includes episode cards with trivia from each season. The hefty package arrives in stores Nov. 4.
