Xenon to Lionsgate

Lionsgate has signed an exclusive agreement to release DVD product from Spanish-language and urban specialty distributor Xenon Pictures, the Vancouver-based company said Wednesday. The home entertainment deal will see Lionsgate take over distribution of Xenon titles in the U.S. market from Universal Music & Video Distribution. As part of their pact, Lionsgate will release about 300 DVD titles from Xenon and the labels it represents, including Grupo Televisa's Televisa Home Entertainment-branded product and theatrical films.



Blu 'Treasure'

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced an ambitious slate of upcoming Blu-ray Disc releases, topped by "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," coming May 20, the same day as the DVD. Also arriving in stores that day is a Blu-ray Disc version of the original "National Treasure." The latest wave of Blu-ray releases kicks off April 1 with "Hidalgo," "Coyote Ugly" and "Unbreakable."



Nyuk nyuk

Another DVD collection of vintage Three Stooges comedy shorts is on its way from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. "The Three Stooges Collection Volume Two: 1937-1939" includes 24 digitally restored shorts, arranged chronologically and packaged in a two-disc DVD. The set goes on sale May 27.



'Enemy' returns

Production begins this week in Puerto Rico on "Behind Enemy Lines 3: Colombia," the second direct-to-video sequel to Fox's "Behind Enemy Lines." It's the first direct-to-video production from the studio and World Wrestling Entertainment; wrestling star Mr. Kennedy heads the cast.
