Echo Bridge Home Entertainment is mounting its biggest consumer-marketing campaign ever in support of the June 5 DVD release of "The Derby Stallion," a direct-to-video drama starring Zac Efron. The campaign is designed to generate more than 75 million consumer impressions and includes a national sweepstakes, promoted on Radio Disney and other media, in which the grand-prize package consists of the racing hat and silks Efron wore in the film, about a teen who discovers his passion is racing horses.
WHV goes Collegiate
Warner Home Video has renewed its licensing deal with Collegiate Images Llc. to create and distribute college sports DVDs as well as electronic sell-through content. Coming in the fall: "The History of Penn State Football," "The History of Wisconsin Football" and "The History of Indiana Basketball," the latter streeting Nov. 13.
The Criterion Collection is preparing three classic films by Japanese new wave director Hiroshi Teshigahara for a July 10 release. The collection, "Three Films by Hiroshi Teshigahara," includes "Pitfall," "Woman in the Dunes" and "The Face of Another" in a four-disc set packed with extras.
MVD Entertainment Group has announced a partnership with Studio T to bring the U.K.-based company's extensive music catalog to U.S. consumers through an assortment of DVD, CD and DVD/CD packages. Upcoming releases include Rick Wakeman's "Amazing Grace," followed by "The Drifters: Live," "Steve Howe Retrospective" and "The Bill Wyman Sessions."
