'Stargate' boxed

MGM Home Entertainment plans on using Comic-Con International: San Diego to launch the 10th and final season of "Stargate," the longest-running sci-fi TV series ever. The boxed set reaches stores July 24. Also in the pipeline for this year: Season 3 of spinoff "Stargate Atlantis."



Elvis DVDs live

Warner Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment are teaming for a massive DVD promotion to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death on Aug. 16. On Aug. 7, the studios are releasing 24 of the late rock icon's films, including a six-pack from Warner that has never before been available on DVD called "Elvis: The Hollywood Connection," consisting of "Girl Happy," "Kissin' Cousins," "Live a Little, Love a Little," "Stay Away, Joe," "Tickle Me" and "Charro!"



Gymboree moves

The Gymboree Corp., known to moms and kids across America for its Gymboree Play & Music Centers, is entering the DVD business. On June 8 come inaugural releases "The Very Brave Elephant and His Friends" and "Let's Get Moving!: Trains, Cars and Planes," two 30-minute song-and-movement DVDs designed to help kids develop motor and social skills and self-esteem.



Chamberlin upped

Gabrielle Chamberlin has been promoted to senior vp marketing North America at Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment. She was vp brand marketing and product management. Chamberlin will oversee brand marketing, product management, product publicity and partnership marketing for the Walt Disney Co. video division's North American region.
