Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum Launches Script Development Fund
The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum is launching the Script Development Fund, seeking Chinese-language projects from directors who have made no more than three films.
HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum is setting up a new Script Development Fund for up-and-coming filmmakers in the Chinese-speaking film industry, to provide HK$100,000 ($128,607) in cash to a selected director to develop a script.
Directors who have made no more than three films are eligible to submit their Chinese-language projects for selection, including those chosen for this year’s HAF. The project will be chosen based on both its artistic and commercial merits. Submission is open at present until Feb. 15.
The fund is coordinated by Sylvia Chang, vice chairman of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society Board of Directors, and counts among its reading committee members Crazy Stone and Crazy Racer director Ning Hao, Chang’s Red On Red co-founder, Applause Pictures president and veteran producer Patricia Cheng (Tokyo Raiders), and HKIFFS curator and HAF director Jacob Wong.
Organized by the HKIFFS, HAF will be held from March 21-23, alongside the HKIFF and Asia Film Awards. The recipient of the fund will be announced on the last day of the HAF.
