Hong Kong, Taiwan embrace 'Lust' at b.o.

HONG KONG -- Ang Lee's highly anticipated "Lust, Caution" opened to record-breaking boxoffice numbers in Hong Kong and Taiwan on Tuesday and Wednesday, Edko Films said Thursday.

"Lust, Caution," recently awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, brought in HK$3.7 million (US$ 474,359) in Hong Kong and NT$35 million (US$1 million) in Taiwan in its first two days.

These figures set the record for an all-time September opening in Hong Kong and the biggest Mid-Autumn Festival holiday single-day record as well as the biggest September Tuesday record in Taiwan. The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was Tuesday.
