The Quick Pitch: Chef Jason Travi, formerly of Culver City’s since-shuttered Fraiche, has teamed with Westside restaurateur Dave Reiss (A-Frame, Sunny Spot) on the most forward-thinking L.A. reboot of the East Coast seafood shack genre since Son of a Gun launched nearly two years ago. Tucked behind a low-key façade at the corner of Selma and Wilcox — a bit away from the clubby hubbub of after-dark Hollywood — the refined, small-plates-oriented aquatic offerings run from sturgeon with Johnnycakes and steamed snow crab with chermoula spice to monkfish française.
The Insider’s Dish: A-list interior designer Sean Knibb, whose private clients include Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez, handled the decor, as he has at Reiss’ other spots. Up next: Buzzed-about Koreatown hotel The Line, from the folks behind the NoMad in New York.
The Must-Order Item: A bowl of torqueing malt vinegar pork rinds from the bar snacks menu.
The Industry Neighbors: ID Public Relations, Natalie Portman’s Handsomecharlie banner and World of Wonder productions.
