Hotel Bel-Air First Look

Wolfgang Puck to open new restaurant in the soon-to-be reopened hotel.

Since shutting its doors to the public two years ago, the Hotel Bel-Air has undergone major cosmetic renovations to bring the hotel – which originally opened in 1946 ­– back up to date. Showbiz types and hotel loyalists have been eagerly awaiting the first renderings of the much-hyped overhaul.

Here’s a sneak peek at hotel’s main dining room, redesigned by architect David Rockwell (Nobu, the Kodak Theatre). The restaurant will be called Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air, with Austrian chef taking over the hotel’s food and beverage services, turning out a modern California cuisine with European and Mediterranean influences.

“It is incredibly exciting to once again work with Hotel Bel-Air and to be part of its extraordinary restoration,” said Wolfgang Puck in a statement. “We look forward to evolving the cuisine and the service programs at this iconic property, while respecting the tradition and heritage of the hotel.”

Hotel Bel-Air will reopen this fall debuting 103 guestrooms, including 12 new canyon view rooms designed by Alexandra Champalimaud and a 12,000 mission-inspired structure featuring a bell tower, a fitness studio, three additional "Loft" guestrooms and the new Hotel Bel-Air spa by La Prarie.

Rates will begin at $565. Hotel Bel-Air will begin accepting reservations next month.
