'How I Met Your Mother' EP Chuck Tatham Inks New Overall Deal at 20th TV
The former "Arrested Development" co-executive producer will remain involved in "HIMYM" as an EP and will develop new projects for the studio.
How I Met Your Mother's Chuck Tatham has inked a new multiyear deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
The pact keeps him on HIMYM as an executive producer and allows him to develop other projects with the studio. "He's a powerful story engine," says 20th TV's executive vp comedy development and animation Jonathan Davis, who would like to see Tatham, an involved father, explore a bold family comedy project that rips a page from his own life.
"When Chuck comes in to pitch, it's full of life and tantalizing and gets you right to the bone," Davis continues, noting that he's been particularly impressed by Tatham's ability to combine comedy and heart.
Tatham has a long history with 20th, dating back to his tenure on Arrested Development, on which he served as a co-executive producer. The Emmy-nominated writer-producer's lengthy list of credits also includes Suddenly Susan, Less Than Perfect and Andy Barker, P.I., among others.
For its part, HIMYM is heading into its eighth season this fall, kicking off CBS’ Monday night comedy block featuring newcomer Partners, 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly. The show’s co-creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, will roll out their latest half-hour effort, Fox’s The Goodwin Games, midseason.
