MADRID – Hugh Jackman will join Spanish actress Carmen Maura at the San Sebastian Film Festival next month as they both accept the Basque festival's Donostia Award for lifetime achievement.

Organizers said Friday that Jackman would receive the award on Sept. 27 before the screening of his latest film, Prisoners. The festival highlighted the Australian actor's versatility as a star of Broadway and film. Jackman has won Golden Globe and Tony awards, and he was nominated for a best actor Oscar last year for his role in Les Miserables.

The star will accept the award a day before getting the Golden Icon Award from the Zurich International Film Festival. News of that honor was announced earlier on Friday. The two festivals recently struck a partnership agreement.

Last year, San Sebastian's Donostia Awards went to Oliver Stone, Ewan McGregor, Tommy Lee Jones, John Travolta and Dustin Hoffman.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners tells the story of a father, played by Jackman, who takes the law into his own hands when his daughter is kidnapped and the detective in charge of the investigation, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, struggles to solve the case.
