The preview begins with Hugh Jackman's now-familiar mutant, born James Howlett and generally known as Logan, waking from a nightmare in which he has impaled Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) with his retractable claws.

Departing drastically from the plot of the character's last spin-off, 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this chapter sees Logan traveling to Japan, where he encounters a mysterious figure from his past and engages in breathtaking samurai battles.

The film, directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line), hits theaters July 26, 2013.
