Hulu Plus Adds CBS' 'Elementary'
Hulu has acquired the subscription video-on-demand rights to CBS drama Elementary.
The online streamer’s subscription service, Hulu Plus, will offer complete past seasons of the modern-day Sherlock Holmes, Hulu and CBS Corp. announced Monday.

The series, which follows Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Watson (Lucy Liu) as a crime-solving duo in Manhattan, is currently in its second season.
Subscribers to Hulu Plus, which costs $7.99 per month, will be able to watch each season after it has aired on CBS -- after the show's third season (at the earliest) airs on the network, that is. In time, viewers will also be able to catch past seasons of Elementary on WGN America, which acquired the off-net cable rights to the series from CBS just last week.
“Elementary has been a strong performer for CBS on-air, online, on VOD and in DVR playback,” said Scott Koondel, chief corporate content licensing officer for CBS Corp. “Its ability to play and succeed on all platforms speaks to the value the series will bring to Hulu Plus and its subscribers.”
Hulu Plus struck a similar multi-platform deal with CBS in 2013 to stream the first four seasons of legal drama The Good Wife, currently in its fifth season.
Said Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins, “After the breakthrough success of The Good Wife on Hulu Plus, we’re excited to offer subscribers more past seasons of outstanding current CBS programming, as the exclusive subscription video on demand home for Elementary.”
