Former Hulu Executives Jason Kilar and Richard Tom Announce Startup
"We are unusually passionate about the intersection of media and technology. We see an opportunity to improve media, particularly next generation video," the pair wrote on Tuesday.
Jason Kilar and Richard Tom, the former CEO and chief technology officer, respectively, at Hulu, have created a new company called Vessel, the pair said in an online post on Tuesday.
The two executives, who quit Hulu last year, were vague about what Vessel will do, but wrote: "If you are a content creator, particularly a video content creator, we should talk!"
Kilar and Tom also disclosed that an impressive group of investors are on board, led by Benchmark and including Greylock Partners and Bezos Expeditions, the personal investment company of Amazon.com founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos.
"We have assembled a unique and talented team, with strong experience building and innovating at places like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon," the pair wrote on Tuesday. "As a team, we are unusually passionate about the intersection of media and technology. We see an opportunity to improve media, particularly next generation video."
Kilar is CEO of Vessel and Tom is CTO. The company is expected to launch this year.
