Ex-Husband of Amy Winehouse on Life Support After Drug Binge
The ex-husband of late torch singer Amy Winehouse has been placed into an induced coma after being discovered by his partner, Sarah Aspin, choking in his bed, The Sun reports.
Blake Fielder-Civil, 30, was rushed to a hospital in West Yorkshire, England, after a night of heavy partying, just a little over a year after the death of his famous ex-wife.
Paramedics on the scene found Fielder-Civil, who has a history of heroin abuse, had "swallowed his tongue and choked on his vomit," and suffered multiple organ failure.
Fielder-Civil and Winehouse met in 2005, and were married for two years before eventually divorcing in 2009.
Winehouse was discovered dead on July 27, 2011, at age 27, from fatal alcohol poisoning.
Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father, tweeted prayers for his former son-in-law on Friday morning.
"Terrible news about Blake this morning," he wrote. "Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery."
In his recently released memoir, the elder Winehouse had harsh words for Fielder-Civil, calling him “the biggest low-life scumbag that God ever put breath into” for introducing the singer to drugs.
It appeared Winehouse's ex-husband was thinking of wedding again, as Aspin said she and Fielder-Civil recently talked of marriage.
“I just want to cry all the time — but I have to be strong for our son Jack," Aspin told The Sun, referring to their 15-month-old son.
