Ian Jessel Named President of Legend 3D
The former president of Miramax International will focus on raising the profile of the company, which specializes in 2D-to-3D conversions.
Ian Jessel has been named president of Legend 3D, the Hollywood-based company that specializes in 2D-to-3D conversions.
Dr. Barry Sandrew, Legend 3D’s founder, had previously held the title of president. He will now focus on his responsibilities as chief creative officer and chief technology officer.
Jessel will be charged with enhancing Legend's market visibility in Hollywood, where it has recently moved into offices at Hollywood Center Studios, nurturing its studio relationships and leading its initiatives in Asia and Europe.
Legend 3D has contributed to such recent films as Hugo, Green Lantern and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. It is also working on converting catalog titles to 3D for release in 2013 and 2014.
Prior to joining Legend 3D, Jessel held senior executive positions as president of Miramax International; president and CEO of Nelson Entertainment International; vice president of CBS Films; and managing director of ITC Entertainment.
"Legend 3D continues to successfully push the needle forward in the VFX industry", Sandrew said, "and our strategic appointment of Ian, a respected peer among studios and a major player in the realm of international distribution, enhances our leadership in the VFX industry. We are confident in Ian's ability to spearhead our ambitions to expand into Asia and Europe.”
