ICM Partners Acquires News Agency Headline Media Management, Launches Broadcast Department

ICM Partners has acquired broadcast news agency Headline Media Management, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

With the acquisition, ICM is launching a broadcasting department, led by HMM CEO Lou Oppenheim and HMM president Michael Glantz, who are joining ICM as partners.

“Lou and Michael have built an incredibly successful business representing clients at the forefront of sports and news broadcasting,” ICM Partners’ Chris Silbermann and Ted Chervin said Wednesday in a joint statement. “Their client-first approach to representation perfectly aligns with the way we run our company. Lou and Michael are ideal partners and leaders, and we are proud to have them and their clients join us at ICM.”

HMM’s roster of on-air talent includes Savannah Guthrie, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Vieira, Chris Berman, Mike Golic, Kevin Harlan, Mike Emrick, John Berman, Tom Jackson, Brad Nessler, Keith Hernandez, Brianna Keilar, Ryan Clark, Eddie Olczyk and Pierre McGuire.

“Our clients are our first priority,” said Oppenheim, “and with this move to join ICM Partners, we’ll continue to provide hands-on, personal service, while drawing on the resources of the agency that extend our reach to opportunities in film, television, branding, publishing, live appearances and digital ventures.”

Headline Media Management has operated under various names over the past 35 years, including Athletes & Artists, Marquee Group and SFX Media Group. Oppenheim began his career at the company in 1981, while Glantz, who formerly represented broadcasters at IMG, joined in 1990.

The move is similar to UTA’s 2014 acquisition of TV news agency N.S. Bienstock and comes at a time of visible expansion for ICM Partners, as it christened its new Century City headquarters with exclusive signage atop the high-rise two weeks ago. The agency also is in the process of building out state-of-the-art new offices in its New York location in Park Avenue Tower.
