Icon U.K. Hires Aviv Giladi to Spearhead Fresh Production Ambitions
Sources say British based outfit will look to mount movies budgeted up to $20 million.
LONDON – Icon U.K. Group, owned by Len Blavatnik's Access Industries, has appointed Aviv Giladi as CEO of the Icon U.K. group of companies.
Giladi’s appointment comes as rumors swirl around the market place about Icon’s future business plans here in the U.K.
The Group, currently encompassing movie theatrical distribution, an international sales division, home entertainment arm and Majestic Film & Television, brings in Giladi, an established executive boasting a wealth of production and content creation experience.
Sources within Icon told The Hollywood Reporter the company is likely to move towards a focus on production, looking to make “sizeable” projects in the $15 million to $20 million range.
Giladi is currently chairman of media holding R.G.E. Group, based in Israel. He is also a non-exec board member of Ealing Studios Group here in the U.K.
The Israel-based company specializes in a variety of content and production activities, largely in the television arena andproduces and operates TV channels in Israel, including Sport 5, Israel’s premiere sports channel.
In a terse statement Giladli said he was “excited to be involved in taking Icon forward and creating new opportunities.”
His appointment comes almost a year to the day that Icon unveiled an internal management shakeup that saw former CEO Stewart Till appointed chairman of the group.
At the time Till's CEO role was split between Hugo Grumbar and Ian Dawson who were promoted from within the company to be joint managing directors at Icon.
Grumbar was most recently president of distribution while Dawson held the position of general manager of home entertainment at Icon U.K.
A company spokesman declined to comment on how Giladi or the expected new direction will affect the operatives in London.
