Iglesias tops World Soundtrack Awards

LONDON -- Alberto Iglesias picked up a brace of awards at this year's World Soundtrack Awards held during the 33rd Flanders International Film Festival in the Belgian town of Ghent, organizers said.

Iglesias walked off with the nod for Best Soundtrack Composer of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack of the year on the back of the music he wrote for "The Constant Gardener."

The music nods were dished Saturday night.

Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla ("Brokeback Mountain") secured the event's public choice nod while Evanthia Reboutsika was elected Discovery of the Year 2006 for the music of "My Father & My Son."

This year's lifetime achievement plaudits went to Peer Raben, who was unable to attend due to health reasons, organizers said. Actress and singer Ingrid Caven picked up Rabens' award.

The song "Our Town" by Randy Newman (music & lyrics) & James Taylor (performer) from "Cars" won this year's Best Original Song Written for Film.

Alexis Koustoulidis secured the title Best Young Belgian Composer for his score for the silent short film "Le Fauteuil Vivant" and was granted ?2,500 ($3,130).
