Image Entertainment to Release Comedienne Chonda Pierce's 'Girl Talk'
The stand-up special will be available on DVD, digital download and VOD beginning Dec. 17.
Image Entertainment has partnered with the “Queen of Clean,” RIAA best-selling female comedienne Chonda Pierce, to release Girl Talk on DVD, digital download and VOD.
The stand-up routine will be available beginning Dec. 17, 2013.
"As the highest-grossing female comedian of all time, I am confident Girl Talk will prove to be another hit for Chonda," says Image Entertainment chief acquisition officer Bill Bromiley. "Her sense of humor coupled with her strong fan base makes this deal a fruitful partnership."
Taped in front of a live audience at Nashville’s renowned Ryman Theatre, Girl Talk showcases the performer’s unique prowess as a charismatic storyteller. Fans from diverse backgrounds have showed up to watch Chondra’s routine, which highlights her onstage versatility.
"I come straight from the world of wooden pews and hell-fire preaching. Some of it probably did a little damage -- that’s where I get my warped sense of humor -- but most of those days gave me solid roots," Chonda explains. "You learn a lot from your past -- what to weed through and throw out and what to hold onto forever."
The Comedian of the Year Visionary Award recipient has generated buzz both as an Emmy-nominated performer and as the best-selling author of Laughing in the Dark.
The deal was negotiated by Girl Talk executive producer Jonathan Saba, Image Entertainment and RLJ Entertainment's Michael Bayer and CMB Productions' Andrew Tenenbaum.
